SPENCER, Iowa – America’s first customized renewable energy chopper running on E-85 and showcasing Iowa agriculture will be rumbling into Spencer on July 22 at the Clay County Fair Grounds from noon to 8 pm during RAGBRAI XXXV overnight stop in Spencer.
The renewable energy chopper, commissioned by the Iowa Farm Bureau as part of its “Join the Ride Iowa” campaign, was built by Orange County Chopper’s (OCC) of the popular Learning Channel show, “American Chopper.” Stars of the show, Paul Teutul, Sr. and the Tuetul family, unveiled the Iowa Farm Bureau Renewable Energy Chopper June 24, at the Iowa Corn Indy 250 race in Newton, Iowa.
The chopper will tour more than 40 locations throughout Iowa this summer and visually showcases Iowa’s leading role in renewable energy from ethanol and livestock to soy biodiesel and wind energy.
“More and more American are realizing the environmental, economic and sustainable benefits of renewable energy to help reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil, “say Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Lang. “But they don’t realize developing that renewable energy market, including wind, biomass, carbon credit, and more, begins right here at home with Iowa farmers. Through this campaign, we want to educate Iowans about the important role that agriculture and livestock plays in our renewable energy future and how they can participate in developing that market, too.
Iowans will have a chance to win the custom Iowa Farm Bureau Renewable Energy Chopper by purchasing a $10 raffle ticket at one of the Join the Ride Chopper Tour locations, or at your local County Farm Bureau office. Gross proceeds from the “Join the Ride Iowa” campaign raffle go to the American Lung Association of Iowa in support of the organization’s “Clean Air Choice” program, which promotes consumer education of E-85, biodiesel and other clean energy initiatives.
Each raffle ticket purchased not only benefits the environment, but benefits your wallet, too. Join the Ride partner, Kum and Go, is offering 3 cents off per gallon of ethanol (any blend) purchases for those who buy a raffle ticket.
