Those wanting to know how to become involved during RAGBRAI's overnight stop in Spencer on July 22 should attend the Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 in Spencer Council Chambers The city of Spencer would like to thank you for expressing interest in being a product or service vendor for RAGBRAI. 

Committee members associated with the Spencer 007: Licensed to Thrill event are seeking volunteers for events leading up to the big day, as well as those interested in helping during the overnight activities on Sunday, July 22.

 


Topics to Be Covered:
Host homes - which can include tent space in yards – are also being sought to help house the traveling guests.

Those wishing to sell merchandise or food need to make contact withthe parties planning for such vendor services in order to secure alocation and make sure information is made available to the riders.

This Town Hall meeting will include a short PowerPointe presentation about all of the plans for Spencer when it's in the spotlight.

Church groups and volunteer organizations wishing to become involved should send at least one representative to the meeting.

Committee members will be present to answer questions and putinterested parties together based on various needs.

The meeting will last about an hour and the public is invited.

Those wishing to have information placed in the official Spencer 007: Licensed to Thrill publication which will be distributed toRAGBRAI riders in Rock Rapids on Saturday as well as Daily Reporter subscribers and newsstand locations need to to submit the information to the Daily Reporter via e-mail before the deadline of June 25. All submissions can be made to: news@spencerdailyreporter.com. No additional information will be accepted for the publication after June 25.

• The Spencer 007: Licensed to Thrill Art Contest Spencer 007: Licensed to Thrill art contest will accept drawings, paintings and sculptures until 5 p.m. Friday, May 25 from kindergarten through
fifth grade children. A winner of two Fridley Theater tickets will be chosen from each grade, and an overall Spencer winner will be submitted to the state RAGBRAI Art Contest for a chance at a $300
grand prize.

Artwork can be drawings using crayons, markers, pencils or other materials; paintings using finger paints, water colors and other materials; or  sculptures of clay, paper mache or other materials.
The artwork should be no larger than 11" x 14". The "Spencer 007:Licensed to Thrill" theme should be incorporated in the art.

Entries can be dropped off during business hours at the Daily Reporter newspaper office at 310 E. Milwaukee St. in Spencer, the KICD studios at 2600 N. Highway Blvd. in Spencer or the Y100.1 radio studios at 2303 W. 18th St. in Spencer. Once the deadline passes, the Spencer Publicity Committee will select a public location to display all the great artwork from area students.
