HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. – Airmen assigned to the 720th Special Tactics Group here will perform a military freefall demonstration at this year’s Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.
Special Tactics Airmen are scheduled to jump into the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa, July 22 at around 8 p.m. CDT.
The 720th STG is an integral part of the Air Force Special Operations Command headquartered here. AFSOC commander, Lt. Gen. Mike Wooley, is scheduled to take part in the 472-mile RAGBRAI® trek alongside several other special operators and is eager to show Iowans the Air Force’s premiere fighting force.
“AFSOC forces are at the center of America’s Global War of Terror,” said General Wooley. “Our Airmen are taking the fight to the enemy’s front door and RAGBRAI® is a great opportunity to show our friends in the mid-west how AFSOC leads the way.”
Special Tactics Airmen execute a myriad of Special Operations missions to enhance air operations deep in enemy territory. They conduct personnel recovery missions, collect intelligence and provide terminal guidance for attacks against valuable enemy targets. |
